Fox Closes on $400 Million Deal, Helping Fund Avatar Sequels
“Marking the first slate financing arrangement to close since the financial meltdown of 2008, 20th Century Fox has made a deal for just north of $400 million to help fund nearly all its films over the next five years, including the next two “Avatar” pics, multiple sources have confirmed to Variety.” [Variety]
James Cameron says Avatar 4 Would Be a Prequel
Though James Cameron has yet to complete a second and third film set in the Avatar universe, he recently disclosed that he has plans for a fourth film in the franchise.
“‘I have an idea for a fourth,’ Cameron told MTV News … at a press event for TITANIC. (A new collector’s edition of the record-breaking movie hits home video on September 10.) ‘I haven’t really put pen to paper on it, but basically it goes back to the early expeditions of Pandora, and kind of what went wrong with the humans and the Na’vi and what that was like to be an explorer and living in that world.’” [MTV.com]
Avatar broke Box Office records by achieving the biggest worldwide box-office draw ($2.7 BILLION+). James Cameron is also best known for other big films such as Aliens, Terminator 2, and Abyss.
