...and now a word from Family Video:
Joss Whedon Confirms ‘The Avengers’ Inspired TV Series ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’

Joss Whedon, director of the hugely popular summer blockbuster ‘The Avengers’, has confirmed his involvement in the upcoming ABC TV series ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ based on the top secret organization featured in his film. Lead by Nick Fury, played by the immaculate Samuel Jackson (whom we hope stars in this TV series, but that has yet to be confirmed) ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ (Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate, or Division) is the organization which brings together the super heroes that make up ‘The Avengers’. If you have yet to see ‘The Avengers’ or any of the previous Marvel superhero films such as ‘Iron Man’, ‘Thor’, or ‘Captain America’, you will still be able to follow along with the show.
“…What we’re building is entirely autonomous from The Avengers. It’s gotta be a show that works for people who haven’t seen the Marvel movies. It will please Marvel fans, I think.” Says Whedon. [ew.com]
